A proactive approach to safety has landed Midlands company Network Construction Services Ltd (NCS) with a high profile safety award from one of the UK's top contractors The Telford-based rail and construction recruitment specialist – part of Network Group Holdings PLC - successfully beat off competition from more than 100 rivals in the Birse Rail supply chain to land the contractor's Visible Safety Leadership Award. The award is in recognition of NCS's pioneering work in health and safety; work that has seen the company achieve one of the most enviable safety records in both the rail and construction sectors. In partnership with Birse, NCS is currently working on the safe cess programme between Rugby and London, and the A38 Selly Oak bypass. Besides Birse and its parent Balfour Beatty, NCS has worked with many high profile clients including Bam Nuttall, Atkins Global, Jarvis, Galliford Try, Volker, First Engineering, Amey and others on some of the UK’s biggest rail and construction projects. Sandy Palmer, NCS Managing Director, said: "The rail and construction sectors are potentially high risk industries in terms of what could go wrong and as such, clients rightly demand that suppliers provide the highest safety standards. "At NCS we work in close collaboration with all our clients to ensure they are guaranteed the best trained, most safety conscious workers in the sector. In this way clients, can be confident they will achieve their deadlines without compromising worker safety. "It is most gratifying that Birse Rail has recognised our attempts to make the industry safer and I would like to thank them for their support and everyone at NCS for their efforts.” The Visible Safety Leadership Award recognises the efforts of suppliers to reinforce their commitment to the highest safety standards and to set a benchmark for others to follow. |
